Located in the heart of Liberty County, Texas and established in 1877, Dayton is known for its egg circle Co-Op for local US producers, rice farming, cattle ranching and timber production in the late 19th and early 20th century. Today Dayton is a charming escape from the crowded city and urban areas. As you travel the streets you can't help but notice the many murals and painted concrete stars featuring the work of local artist, (#DaytripDayton) as well as the pocket parks and various nature trails. In recent time, birdwatchers enjoy the area for the abundant bird activity due in part to the many tributaries and bays in the area. Seasonal hunting & fishing is popular in the area with guided hunts & fishing charters available just to the south in Chambers County.

MEET THE INN KEEPER...
The Walter S. Neel Home & West Wing Guest Inn is owned by Susan Simmons of Dayton, Tx and her 4-year-old dog affectionally known as "Walter". Susan and her late husband John, a native of Dayton, purchased the home in 1997 from John and Lois St. Pe on a handshake agreement. After two renovations to make needed repairs and update the home with modern amenities, it sits proudly on North Main Street as a beautiful center piece forever ingrained in the history of Dayton.
It was a wish of John's to have the home recognized as a state landmark and it is a dream of Susan's to have the home and the ground it sits on enjoyed by all. We are delighted to welcome you to
